Last Two Toby Comics Pages

The Samandal issue I was working on launched a week ago. It came out looking beautifully and I had an awesome time. It's been a frazzled couple weeks, but I managed to finish up the artwork for the comic I've been doing for my brother. Here's a couple more excerpts:

Under My Bridge, last pages

Finally, the last two pages of Under My Bridge are done! They took a while to draw because of all the countless little guys, but it was totally worth it in the end. Onwards to lettering!

Toby Comics

Here's a few unlettered preview pages from a comic I'm working on for my brother, Toby. For all that I love the trolls and goblins, I'm really starting to like working in this more realistic style.

UMB Page 6

Only two more pages to go! Then revisions and lettering and a stake through the heart. Later today or tomorrow I'll post a few pages from a comic I've been doing for my brother.

Under My Bridge Page Four

Another Under My Bridge Page preview from this past week. All the running and body language in this one was loads and loads of fun to draw.

Under My Bridge Page Three

Another page from Under my Bridge! I've also got new work from another project I'm doing, but I've got to tweak the text a tiny bit more on it. I'll post that stuff on Sunday.

Under My Bridge First Pages

Here's a couple pages from a comic project I'm working on this summer with James Parks. It's pretty fun to do because it's got goblins and trolls in it, the kind of monsters I usually find myself idly sketching, but that never actually make it into my comics. It's nice to be able to let myself get a little looser and more cartoony with this stuff.

I've got to rework the last panel of that first page so that the little guys are still lining up, rather than beginning to cross the bridge.

And some concept sketches from the lead up.

Hamra

Hamra is happening. Even the New York Times thinks so.

Back to the Root

First comic from Beirut! I'm going to try to maintain some sort of regular posting schedule with these all summer. In between regular work, a couple comics projects I've got cooking and hanging out with these guys we'll see how I do.

Also, note the new wide blog format! That way I won't have to post previews and links every single time I do a post. I'll try to go back through my back posts and fix 'em up so the whole thing looks nice, too.

Home Brew

Giant thanks to Steven Foundling for the excellent edits and the kernel of it, without which none of this would have existed at all.

MoCCA and Homebrew

I've been working my fingers to the bone on the final project for school here (now called Homebrew). I've included a preview of the first page at the bottom of this blog post. Things have been going well on it, I've got 14 pages inked, with 6 to go. Those six are pencilled pretty tight, though, so I don't think they'll take too long. I want to go back through it all and heap on the fine details once I know it's in the bag, though, so I won't be idle!

I'll also be at MoCCA Festival in New York City this weekend, selling comics and tabling with fellow CCS'ers Melanie Gillman, Dakota McFadzean, Nate Woottersand Bill Bedard. If you're in the city, it's Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. I put together a collection stuff from CCS, and earlier.

I've also got a few things on the walls of the Nisus Gallery in Portland, OR. The show runs until the 30th of April.
